Ridley Scotts `Robin Hood to open Cannes fest

PARIS (AP) -- Director Ridley Scott"s "Robin Hood," starring Russell Crowe in the purpose of the famous outlaw, will open the Cannes Film Festival on May 12.

The legal holiday pronounced Friday that the movie will not contest for prizes.

Crowe has already teamed up with Scott most times, in "Gladiator," "A Good Year," "American Gangster" and "Body of Lies."

By personification Robin Hood on screen, Crowe follows in the footsteps of Errol Flynn, Sean Connery and Kevin Costner. Cate Blanchett plays his love interest, Maid Marian.

The legal holiday runs from May twelve to 23.
